Last Post

This will be the last post on this blog as our school year ended in December.  The Grade 6s are off to Secondary School and the Grade 5s will be Grade 6s in 2014.

We would like to thank everyone who has been part of our blogging journey in 2013.  You have all helped flatten our classroom walls and we have been able to learn with people all around the world.   We would like to thank all our family, friends and teachers who have visited our blog and left comments for us to read.  It’s been a big year!

We have been very lucky to work with different classes on a number of collaborative projects. We say a HUGE thank you to the teachers and students who have blogged with us throughout the year, especially the following people:

* Mrs Monaghan and Class 2 in England for being our ePals, Skyping with us on several occasions, including singing Christmas carols with us and leaving lots of comments on the blog.

* Mrs S and 4/5DS and 5/6CS in Tasmania for working with us on Artist Trading Cards, The Alien Project and 100 Word Narratives.

* Miss Fraser and the Frole Islanders for the Asia Skype Quiz, 100 Word Narratives and Mystery Excursion.

* Rinku and Vaila in England for teaching us about India.

* Mrs Monaghan, Mrs Todd, Mrs Gioia, Ms Majithia, Ms Williams and their students, along everyone else, who helped us research articles for Global UPdate, our magazine about life and learning worldwide.

  1. Dear Miss Crowther & 5/6C
It has been a pleasure working with you this year, and we look forward to more collaborations in the coming months with your new class. We are one third of the way through our year, and our second term begins TODAY! We have so many things to look forward to in the coming months, including a residential visit in April and the Tour de France coming through OUR TOWN in July on ‘le grand depart’. We really enjoyed our topic work last term on Australia, and it was really special to work with you on so many projects.
Enjoy the rest of your summer holidays! We are enjoying storms, high winds, flooding and torrential rains!

  2. Dear Miss Crowther & 5/6C
It was wonderful working with you and watching your blog post to see what you were doing. We started back to school after winter break on Monday and then for the past two days we had a shorten day (we didn’t go into school as early with a 2 hour delay because of the frigid temperatures) It was 9 and 13 degrees F. All 50 states had temperatures below freezing yesterday even Hawaii (on top of a dormant volcano). That’s amazing to us. We made get up to 60 F this weekend. Weather is constantly changing.
We haven’t received the magazine yet but we are looking forward to the mail bringing it shortly.
Good luck to those of you moving on to another school. Is your secondary school nearby? We wish you the best there and hope you keep your interest in blogging.

  3. Dear Miss Crowther and 5/6JC

Thanks very much for the mention in your blog post. Both of my classes enjoyed the collaborative projects that we fitted into the busy school year. My 5/6 class in 2014 has 21 children from the 4/5 class still together and we hope to continue with some more projects during the year. I will make sure that I add the new blog list to our blog roll.

    Mrs S, 4/5DS and 5/6CS
